Black Rain :: essays research papers

BLACK RAIN by MasujiIbuse The main character in the novel is in some ways likemyself. Mr. Shizuma is a psyche that is intrigued by m allthings and likes to see what reaction people have from anyaction. Throughout the novel he feels the need to go todifferent move of the city and surrounding communities inorder to see the cause of the occult bomb. Mr. Shizumawas not only interested in what happened to the people ofthe community only if he was also interested in finding out whatthe weapon system used was called and made out of. There weredifferent names habituated to the bomb throughout the book andhe sums up the names in one paragraph, The name of thebomb had already undergone a number of changes, from theinitial stark naked weapon through new-type bomb, secretweapon, special new-type bomb, to specialhigh-capacity bomb. That day, I learned for the first time tocall it an atomic bomb. (Black Rain 282) The magnificenceof the name of the bomb may seem ineffectual, but he seemst o sojourn on finding out what caused this type of destruction.Something else that Mr. Shizuma wants to do is rememberevery little detail about what happens to everything fromwhat angle the house was on after ward the bomb to what his wifecooked for dinner with the food rationing. He even likes to save up how people cured themselves of radiation sickness andwhat the burns and other injuries forecast and act like. Thesethings are like myself in the fact that he does not like toforget what things are like, wants to see first hand what theeffects are, and is very interested in finding information aboutnew things that he has never seen before. He also likes to attention people gr extinguishly such as his constant wanderings lookingfor coal for his community. If you were depended on wouldyou help your community? I think so. The theme that is verymeaningful to me is that war hurts two different parts of acountry. The first is the armament, which was not genuinely talkedabout, and then there is the civilians. The civilians must rationfood so that the troops can eat, and then they must alsosuffer because the bomb that was dropped was not meantfor any military base but to destroy and kill a city. The themeis clear in meaning that it hurts the civilians much more than ithurts the military and that war is very, very cruel. The peoplethat were rationing had very little to eat and that amount
